We are now living in a modern world where technology has a big part to play.  Our activities of daily life are made easier by technological advancements in science and technology. The modern technologies of today are fruits of never ending researches before and it can be traced back in early Greece where philosophers are greatly amazed of the world we live that they constantly ask questions about it. As sciences advances through age and time, the questions that were asked before are starting to have some answers.

And as science continues to answers our questions about life, our planet earth and everything in it, we have a highly reliable instrument that has been used for ages and that is the microscope. Microscopy is the technique to produce enlarged images of specimens or to view very small details that may not be visible to our own eyes, it is by using a device called a microscope or other devices that can magnify that microscopy is achieved.

Microscope are mainly used for viewing but now, microscopes are used for dissecting and there are also microscopes that can take videos or pictures of the specimen you are viewing and it can also be attached to the computer. And one of the more modern microscopes of today is the fluorescence microscope, one of the most popular light microscopes that we have today. Based on a research, microscopes for fluorescence are based on the phenomenon of fluorescence and phosphorescence instead of, or in addition to reflection and absorption. Fluorescence microscopy is a technique that makes use of the fluorescent effect on the specimen. The fluorescent effect is achieved when the compounds that are illuminated by a high energy light emits a different but frequency of light. The dye that is used in fluorescence microscope to view the specimen is called fluorochrome. Fluorescence emissions are different in wavelength or color from the light; it only presents structures or images that were labeled by the fluorescent dye. Fluorescent technology in microscopy has helped a great deal in modern sciences because of its sensitivity in detecting even a single molecule. It has a fast increasing use in the medical and biological areas of studies.
